- I've never been more embarrassed of a team than United on Wednesday and I highly doubt Sir Alex has either. I can bitch about the non-call on clear handball but the fact is this team didn't deserve a point and it's only from playing lowly Wigan that they didn't lose by 2 or more. For those that watch United you're used to seeing a relaxed SAF chewing his gum and not standing a foot from the pitch screaming his ass off with his arms folded. He took off Rooney to prove a point (Rooney failed to defend on the goal) and would have probably changed all 11 starters if allowed. He'll be giving the boys an earful this week and I expect a really fired up group to face a team playing horrendous football. Hell at least with Wigan you can argue they are in their best form all season but Villa are a joke. Just 1 win since January and basically taken apart these last few weeks but holding on for 2 points in last 4 matches. They're relatively safe, 7 points from relegation, and have FAR more winnable matches coming up...home vs Sunderland then home vs Bolton then at horrible WBA. United will obviously circle this as a MUST WIN as they play a pair of top 7 teams to follow. Villa, more or less, are United's bitch winning just once in last 35 meetings with 8 defeats by 2+ goals in the past 7 years. The amount of chances Villa are allowing is comical...watched them at Arsenal and Pool, home vs Chelsea and Stoke. Simply an horrendous defense. United 3 straight home clean sheets and shutouts in 5 of L6 at home since the Blackburn disaster. The reason why SAF might be the greatest manager of all time is the way his team responds after a terrible performance and when you look at United's home results immediately following a league road loss you will see why...

So, when United head back to Old Trafford after an away defeat they are 16-0-0 39/5 since drawing Boro in April 2006 (thx to Soccerway for such easy to find info)

Of course they're solid following any road defeat (18-2-1 over same period) but no doubt the sweet spot is playing them at home after a road loss, especially one where the team thought they would just show up and intimidate Wigan to give them 3 points. Probably the only thing worse than being a United player at training on Thur and Friday will be a Villa player on Sunday

can't argue...totally see utd. jumping villa out of the box and not giving them a chance to breathe...hence, a few bets i like being offered at paddy power(use this thru my brother in manchester)...utd. 2-0 at half pays 9-2....half/full time...utd./utd. pays 4-6.....to win both halves pays 6-4...and this one is a definite limit bet and i don't care how high the odds are, as i see utd. putting up a minimum of 3 goals themselves... over 2' goals at 8-15 odds...

united with best lineup possible although i though we might see nani starting for valencia based on his nice performance last week. welbeck/rooney up front, carrick in holding mid, valencia right, scholes middle, young left ... back 4 of rafael/rio/evans/evra

united will come out and press hard early. if they can pop one in it's light's out on villa...if it stays 0-0 30th i'll be worried.

yeah, well like i wrote there are far more winnable games coming so they are basically giving up on this one. reminds me of that team in spain last year (either rayo or sociedad or one of those) that had other relegation h2h's coming so just got destroyed at madrid like 7-0 to give first team some rest. surprised ireland is in lineup as he looked gassed last match.

gotta expect a 3+ goal win here. c'mon u reds!

yeah crazy 2nd goal considering that villa have cleared 6 or 7 great chances with desperate defending then just let a ball go straight through the slot. rooney really struggling....pass completion % is not even 50. Other than him and some shit passing out of the back by Evans they played about as good of a half of football as they've done all season. less midfield turnovers and better finishing in 2h, hopefully

as far as young goes...enough already! really sucks to see it. dude didn't take a dive for 25 matches but went down 2 weeks back and got the call...now it's his signature move? ugh. if it was anyone but an Englishman it would not have been given...but the English don't dive (according to them) eh?
